Curiosity and Questions: Navigating Difficult Conversations
OJMCHE’s Coffee and Conversation series provides an opportunity for the community to virtually engage with the museum staff. Join Director of Education Amanda Coven as she explores how to navigate difficult conversations in a manner that respects curiosity over confrontation. Amanda will cover the difference between debate and critical discourse while providing a framework for how to enter and engage in complex and often controversial conversations so they don’t devolve into heated and angry arguments. The goal is to give viewers tools so they can feel better equipped to talk to friends, family, or others who may hold differing views. They’ll be time at the end of the program for questions as well as an opportunity to practice what we have learned.
