THANK YOU for advancing Human Rights and Civil Rights Education in Oregon.
As Oregon’s only museum focused on educating the general public about immigration, discrimination, and persecution—including, of course, the lessons of the Holocaust—OJMCHE connects the painful past to the relevant present. Now the museum has the opportunity to deepen our mission.
On July 1, 2022, Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education acquired the adjacent 1000 square foot gallery space on NW 8th Avenue to present a new core exhibition: Human Rights After the Holocaust.
We invite you to join us now in a fundraising campaign to support the museum expansion and the development of this powerful new exhibition. Education provides an essential tool to confront the challenges of our times. To date we have raised two-thirds of our campaign goal of $1,790,000 through individual gifts, foundation giving, and grants.
Recently OJMCHE received a challenge grant of $75,000 from the Maybelle Clark MacDonald Fund and we are now reaching out to our community to support the Campaign for the Future with your matching gifts.

OJMCHE is grateful for the support of our community and will be including gifts in our Campaign for the Future donor list. If you would like your gift to be anonymous, contact campaign@ojmche.org.
OJMCHE is working with Deca Architecture Inc. and Emerick Construction to integrate the new gallery within the existing museum. This video provides a glimpse of what the finished space will look like.
“Telling stories is the best way to reach an audience, including the next generation; our stories influence, teach, inspire, and forge human connections. With the expansion of the museum and the opening next June of the new multi-media exhibition, Human Rights After the Holocaust, OJMCHE will dramatically enhance the power and reach of our core mission to include today’s realities.” Director Judy Margles
A focus on human rights and civil rights helps audiences to think critically, encourage empathy and take steps towards combating racism. We are proud to have the support of visionary community members and foundations and hope you will join us in this powerful moment to position the museum with a new focus on human rights and civil rights. In this way we join other museums nationally and internationally on a platform of exploration, history, identity, and achievement – from the stories of our own community to the world stage.
If you would like a tour of the building or have any other questions, please email campaign@ojmche.
We appreciate every gift to the campaign and have endeavored to confirm the accuracy of all names. In the event of an error or omission, please contact the museum.
