In a time of increasing crisis and division, youth feel the need to be engaged and critically understand the impact they have on society. With social media’s involvement in daily life, connection, and activism this program will explore how different forms of media intersect and create platforms for change.
The program will begin with a panel discussion where speakers from multiple forms of media (photography, print, and social media) will share their experiences and reflections with media and activism. Following the panel, students will participate in a guided reflection by the panelists alongside OJMCHE’s Student Advisory Board Members. We’ll conclude the program with an interactive workshop led by Next Up Oregon that will empower participants and give them the skills to utilize media in a meaningful and effective way.
Fifty applications will be considered for the program. Applications are due by March 4, 2022 or whenever we receive fifty. Selected participants will be notified no later than March 18, 2022. This program is for high school students only.
