Join us as we converse with Amanda Byron Singer, who will be zooming live from Goerlitz, Germany where she will be attending Jewish Remembrance Week, which includes the anniversary of Kristallnacht, the first large scale Nazi pogrom against Jews that took place throughout Nazi controlled Germany in 1938. The town of Goerlitz is located in the easternmost part of Germany, and has been widely recognized as having the most quickly escalating neo-Nazi radicalization and associated political activity in all of Europe. This remembrance of Jewish life is offered as a means to both celebrate a repressed and rich history, and to overtly counter the rise in Neo Nazism. Professor Singer will share her insights about current ways that Germany is memorializing and representing the Holocaust.

This event is co-sponsored by the Holocaust and Genocide Studies Project at PSU, the Never Again Coalition, and OJMCHE.
