Throughout history, Jewish people have come together in times of crisis to display pride and fight antisemitism. This spirit is what inspired the largest single act of resistance during the Holocaust—the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising—in which 13,000 Jews died fighting Nazi oppression in April and May 1943. As we mark the 77th anniversary of their extraordinary uprising, we will come together to in a celebration of resistance and resilience to say: we are here (mir zaynen do).
Along with a network of more than 50 supporting museums and partner institutions around the world, the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust will present We Are Here: A Celebration of Resistance and Resilience.
By leading a global network in coming together during this time of crisis to say “we are here,” we will make our own mark on the long Jewish tradition of resistance and resilience.
Featuring award-winning media personalities Whoopi Goldberg, Dr. Ruth Westheimer, Adrien Brody, Mayim Bialik, Jackie Hoffman, and Tiffany Haddish, world-renowned singers and musicians Renee Fleming, Lea Salonga, Steven Skybell, Joyce DiDonato, and Lang Lang, and other public figures from all walks of life, the free 90-minute program will commemorate the recent anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and project a message of hope amidst the crises we face.
